The author wrote many novels, this being his best known. It was published in 1956 and adapted for film in the 1959. It tells the story of a television producer who profiled the life of an aging physician in Brooklyn. He is the right doctor for the poor and the producer desperately needs a winning documentary. With television just emerging into American life, the values and dedication, along with uncompromising beliefs, make the doctor a hero to the producer, yet an impossible subject for the documentary.
