This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. 1999 Sutton Publishing. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Brick red hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear and feature gold lettering along spine. The Last Days of Charles l by Graham Edwards was written to mark the 350th anniversary of the king's death and recounts in detail the events leading to that fateful day. It covers the King's tribulations in the months before the trial, through the trial itself to the gruesome course and aftermath of the execution. Charles l, King of England, Wales Scotland and Ireland, was the only monarch of England ever to be tried in public by his own people. His grandmother, Mary, Queen of Scots, had died violently at the hands of others, but this execution shocked Britain and Europe. The King challenged the court, and had no defending counsel or witnesses and was prevented from speaking in his own defence.
The book is a historical account in one of the most widely known and "sketchy" events in Britain's history.
