This is a very good hardcover with original accompanying slipcase. 1955 Pantheon Books. Special Edition illustrated by George W. Thompson. This copy is very good inside and out. The inside pages are very good, clean and actually still crisp. The binding is tight and straight. Blue hardcover boards are also very good with only hints of shelf wear and feature dark blue cloth quarter trim with silver lettering and design front and back. The accompanying slipcase is good, showing light shelf wear corners/edges. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5".
This inspirational title from Anne Morrow Lingbergh has long been a favorite and endures today. The thoughts in the book are wound around the sea, a beach and an island. The reflections on a life are set on the sea shore and as the sea tosses up its gifts - shells rare and some perfect - so the mind, left to its pondering, brings up its own treasures of the deep. The shells become symbols here for the various aspects of life she is contemplating.
