This is a very good 4 volume set of hardcovers with original dust jackets. FRENCH LANGUAGE EDITION 1950 Nelson Editeurs, Paris. This set is very good inside and out. The inside pages of each volume are very good and clean with only a hint of light natural tanning from age. The bindings are all tight and straight. The set is bound in lovely ivory boards with stamped title/author front and design. Gold lettering along spine. All 4 hardcover boards are very good given age and show only light shelf wear. The accompanying dust jackets are good, with each showing varying mild shelf wear. Each is smaller hardcover, 16mo book size or 4.5" x 6.5". This set was designed and published as a "pocket book" for carrying in purse or pocket and reading anywhere.
This is the French language edition of Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. It is the epic French historical novel first published in 1862. It has long been considered one of the greatest novels of the 19th century.
