This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. Reprint edition from Knopf Publishing, most likely 1980's, no date given. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards are blue with red quarter trim and are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. Smaller hardcover, octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 186 pages.
Originally published in 1930, The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett is the detective novel that introduced the world to the cynical San Francisco private investigator Sam Spade. Originally serialized in the pulp magazine Black Mask in 1929, the book became the standard for noir crime detective fiction novels.
