This is a good hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. Circa 1970's Random House Publishing. Copyright date indicates 1939 BUT that was when the title was originally published. A True First Edition 1939 would have red boards and the copyright page would include only TWO previous Dr Seuss books, And To Think I Saw It On Mulberry Street and 500 Hats of Bartholomew. This edition has many previous books from Dr Seuss ending with Dr Seuss's Sleep Book which was published in early 1960's. Therefore, this is a reprint most likely from the 1970's where publisher did not update copyright date, common for books.
This copy is very good inside, the pages are very clean. The binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards are solid but showing wearing to edges, corners and top right corner front, see photo. Larger hardcover, imperial octavo book size or 8" x 11"
