This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1996 National Geographic Society. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. NOTE: gift inscription written inside cover first blank page, see photo. Rest of inside pages are crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Brown hardcover boards under jacket are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear and feature flag design in gold on front. The accompanying dust jacket is still clean and shiny with only very light shelf wear. Super octavo book size or 8" x 10" with 156 pages including index and credits.

Halsey was a New Jersey farmer who served as an officer in the Union Army's 11th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry. It is the story of the Civil War from Sumter to Appomattox. The book was compiled by K.M. Kostyal who crafted 70 essays illustrated with 210 vintage photos, paintings, sketches, memorabilia, and more. There are 14 commissioned maps that detail specific battles and conditions.
