This is a very good hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. 1974 Norton Publishing. This copy is very good inside and out. NOTE: the binding is cracked, a flaw often found in vintage books, BUT all pages are tight to binding, see photo of binding edge. The inside pages are very clean and very good. Brick red hardcover boards are also very good and clean with only light shelf wear corners/edges and the gold lettering along spine very good and not faded. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 594 pages including index.

It also deals with his conflicts over love, politics, revolution and more. It was one of the first works to deal with Sally Hemings, her children and the evidence of Jefferson being their father. It was a central but controversial part of the book.
