This is a very good hardcover. 1957 Walter Black Publishing. This copy is very good inside and out. The inside pages are very good and clean. The binding is tight and straight with fine sewn (not modern glued) binding. Grey hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear and feature gold lettering along spine in black block. Crown octavo book size or 5" x 8" with 135 pages. ESG design endpapers front and back.

This is the Walter J. Black, 1957 edition. Walter Black published a series of two-story volumes from 1940 through the 1960's.
In The Case of the Lucky Loser, a wealthy family plagued by scandal has hired Perry Mason to handle an accidental manslaughter and hit-and-run case. Things take a complex turn when findings reveal that the deceased person was actually shot in the head. The accidental vehicular manslaughter turns into a murder charge with a body that appears to be "killed twice".
The Case of the Hesitant Hostess involves a destitute former salesman who is unexpectedly arrested for armed robbery. Perry Mason finds a nightclub hostess to provide alibi that will clear his client's name. But, things go terribly wrong when the hostess flees right before taking the stand. The robbery charge is quickly upgraded to murder, leading to a race against time for Perry and his team to find the missing witness
