This is a very good hardcover. 1912 Scribners Publishing. This copy is very good inside and out. The inside pages are very good and very clean. The binding is tight and straight. Green hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear and feature gold embossed design front and gold lettering along spine. Top page edges tipped in gold. Crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8" with 552 pages.
The Fortunes of Oliver Horn is a 1902 novel by Francis Hopkinson Smith. This edition is the 1912 Scribners Publishing edition, featuring illustrations by Walter Appleton Clark including a frontispiece which still has the original tissue guard in place. The story is about a young man from the South who inherits a fortune and moves to New York City. There he pursues his dream of becoming an artist, navigating themes of ambition, love, and societal expectations during the Gilded Age leading up to the Civil War.
