This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1985 Fairfax Press reprint of the original 1961 UK edition. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Navy blue hardcover boards under jacket are also very good and clean with barely a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is still clean and shiny with only very light shelf wear Smaller hardcover, crown octavo book size or 5" x 8" with 145 pages including index.
The American Civil War by Sir Winston S. Churchill includes 64 black and white photos by Mathew Brady and other Civil War photographers. Originally published in the UK in 1961, this version from Churchill was written with a deep sympathy springing from his own family connections with the country and makes up some of the finest chapters of his great History of the English Speaking Peoples. The book is a short and brilliant account of the disaster from Fort Sumter to Appomattox. Along with the photos are several maps.
