This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. 2004 Farrar Straus & Giroux Publishing. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are still crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Tan hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear and feature navy blue cloth quarter trim with gold lettering along spine. The accompanying dust jacket is very good with only a hint of shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 796 pages including index.

The Path to Victory The Mediterranean Theater in World War ll by Douglas Porch is a compelling account of a lesser known theater that emphasizes the importance of the Mediterranean in the ultimate Allied victory in Europe during World War Two. Vivid portraits of Churchill, Mussolini, FRD, Rommel, and more fill the pages. It presents the Mediterranean as an integrated arena, one in which events in Syria and Suez influenced the survival of Gibraltar. Decisions in this theater seriously damaged the Axis military machine. Without a Mediterranean alternative, Western Allies may have committed to a premature cross-Channel invasion in 1943 that may have cost them the war.
