This is a very good larger coffee table style hardcover with dust jacket. 1984 Abrams Publishing. This copy is very good inside. The inside pages are still crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. NOTE: the accompanying dust jacket is fair, clean BUT does have multiple tears top front cover across the spine and back of jacket. Each tear has been previously taped to preserve some integrity. Otherwise the jacket would be considered very good as clean and still shiny. Blue hardcover boards under jacket are very good with only a hint of fading or shelf wear. Larger coffee table style book, slightly larger than quarto book size, or 12" x 11" rectangle with 277 pages including credits.
The Art of Maurice Sendak, one of the best love artists in America, has won both the Hans Christian Andersen Medal and the Caldecott Medal. His life and work are explored in this book that contains 94 full-color illustrations and over 165 black and white drawings. There are three fold out double color illustrations. Also included are selections of Sendak's early sketches and working dummies - small scale renderings that trace the meticulous creative process. In addition, the book contains a full-color facsimile of the tiny mock-up that Sendak first made for the story that would later become Where The Wild Things Are.
