This is a good hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. 1955 Dodd Mead Publishing Illustrated edition. This copy is good inside and out. The inside pages only have very light natural tanning from age and are clean. Previous owners bookplate affixed inside front cover, see photo. The binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards are very good for age and show light shelf wear corners/edges but overall very good and solid, clean. Octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 444 pages.
The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins was first published as a serial in 1868 and been published in book form since then. This edition includes 15 illustrations and illustrated frontispiece of Collins along with a preface by Wilkie Collins, 1868. This novel was the first full-length detective story in English literature. It has been called the greatest detective story of all time
