This is a near fine (almost like new) collectible leather bound hardcover. 1982 Time Life Books photographically reproduced from the 1866 First Edition. This copy includes the original Collectors Notes. Bound in black leather, this edition features find binding appointments such as sewn binding for durability and aesthetics. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. NOTE: there is mild flaking off of the gold gilt page edging top edge, see photo. Gold lettering on black leather hardcover. All three outer page edges tipped in gold gilt with the top edge being the one showing visible wear. Attached red ribbon attached bookmark. Binding tight and straight as new. Crown octavo book size or 5" x 8" with 389 pages and marbled endpapers front and back.
This is Richmond During the War by Sallie B. Putnam who spoke for the Southern women. The book contains an unexpectedly full history of the Civil War. She had a strong grasp of strategies and tactics. But her eyewitness accounts are the heart of the book.
