This is a very good hardcover. 1961 Great Ideas Program series from Britannica. This copy is very good inside and out. The inside pages are very good, clean and still crisp. The binding is tight and straight and bound w fine sewn binding, not glued, for durability. Hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. Crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8.5" with 278 pages.
In 1961, Encyclopedia Britannica launched The Great Ideas Today series of books. The series was designed as a supplement to the Great Books of the Western World set originally published in 1952. The books were designed to bridge timeless ideas with contemporary issues. Edited by Mortimer Adler and Robert Hutchins, these yearly volumes provided essays on current affairs, arts, and sciences. Each annual volume included essays from prominent intellectuals, discussions of current debates, and more. Each includes guide to the reading and self testing questions.
This is Religion and Theology. Contains Preface and Foreword. Contents include; Aeschylus - Prometheus Bound, Plato - Euthyphro and Laws, Old Testament - Genesis and Exodus, New Testament - Gospel According to Matthew, St Augustine - The Confessions, Aquinas - Summa Theological, and Dante - The Divine Comedy.
