This is a good and solid hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. First Edition 1944 Viking Press. This copy is good inside and out. NOTE: on first blank page, gift inscription "To Thomas X-mas 1947 Aunt Lois and Uncle Earl". Rest of inside pages are very good and clean. Only very light natural tanning to pages from age. The binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards in green cloth are illustrated front and back with title lettering along spine. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 128 pages and illustrated endpapers front and back.
Rabbit Hill by Robert Lawson was the Newbery Award winner in 1947. It is a delightful tale about the animals of Rabbit Hill who watch the new "human" folks move into "the big house". The story teaches has themes of community, acceptance and getting along with new neighbors. The book is charmingly illustrated by the author.
