This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. 1988 National Geographic Books. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are crisp and clean. Inside front cover the original Nat Geo unmarked bookplate affixed as published. The binding is tight and straight. Emerald green hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is still clean and shiny with only a hint of shelf wear edges. Royal octavo book size or 7" x 10" with 199 pages including index.
This is Mountain Adventure Exploring the Appalachian Trail by National Geographic books. Readers will explore the 2,100 mile trail from Georgia to Maine in this book. In 1987 the trail celebrated its 50th birthday. The last segment was completed in 1937. Also in 1987, a team from National Geographic explored the entire trail - its history, flora and fauna, terrain and people. The book begins in a late spring snowstorm in Georgia and moves with the seasons, pausing for thunderstorms in the Smokies, celebrations of the people, and stops on overlooks.
