This is America's Wild Woodlands from National Geographic books. The book tells the story of our forest heritage. Readers learn of the abuses to woodlands from clearing and harvesting. In the late 19th century, Congress finally passed legislation to protect woodlands. The book reveals the forest world with delicate ecosystems where grizzlies, birds, and wildlife of all kinds live. In addition, people who live in the forests are highlighted along with their crafts, totem poles art, and lifestyle. Readers visit forests all over and through vivid photos see redwoods, giant sequoia, and other scenic wilderness.
