This is a very good hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing but does include the original insert pamphlet. 1956 Illustrated Junior Library series Nelson DoubleDay Publishing. This copy is very good inside and out. The inside pages are very good, clean, with only very light natural tanning from age. The binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards are also very good with only very light shelf wear and only mild fading along spine. Octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 190 pages.

Junior Deluxe Edition books were a series of children's books published from the late 1940's through the 1960's. Originally published by Nelson DoubleDay Publishing, there have been multiple publishers over the years. Some of the versions feature multiple stories and most of those are abridged volumes. Generally, the volumes featuring single stories are complete.

This is Bambi by Felix Salten. To explain the insert that accompanied this volume, the inserts were place in the book and featured the NEXT months volume. So given this insert is actually for this title, Bambi, the previous owner removed the insert from the PREVIOUS book received and placed it in the following months book to match the insert with the titled edition. Inserts were place in the series to let subscribers know what title was coming the following month. It is a nice touch to have the insert matching the book title as it was saved and place in the book when it arrived.

This is the classic and beloved tale of Bambi and his story of love, loss, courage and growing up. First published in 1923 by Australian author Felix Salten, it has become a classic in children's literature. This edition is nicely illustrated by Girard Goodenow with black and white sketches and a full color frontispiece.
