This is a good and solid copy, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. 1954 Illustrated Junior Deluxe series Nelson DoubleDay Publishing. This copy is good and clean inside and out. NOTE: Back cover of hardcover boards shows scuff/dent bottom left corner, see photo. The rest of the hardcover boards front and back very good and clean with only light shelf wear and very mild fading along spine. The inside pages are very good and clean with only very light natural tanning to pages from age. Octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 224 pages.
Junior Deluxe Edition books were a series of children's books published from the late 1940's through the 1960's. Originally published by Nelson DoubleDay Publishing, there have been multiple publishers over the years. Some of the versions feature multiple stories and most of those are abridged volumes. Generally, the volumes featuring single stories are complete.
This is the classic story of Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. It is nicely illustrated by Walter Seaton with black and white sketches and a full color frontispiece.
