This is a very good hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. 1956 Illustrated Junior Library series Nelson DoubleDay Publishing. This copy is very good inside and out. The inside pages are very good and clean with only a hint of light natural tanning from age. The binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards are also very good with only light shelf wear and mild fading along spine. Octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 446 pages.
Junior Deluxe Edition books were a series of children's books published from the late 1940's through the 1960's. Originally published by Nelson DoubleDay Publishing, there have been multiple publishers over the years. Some of the versions feature multiple stories and most of those are abridged volumes. Generally, the volumes featuring single stories are complete.
This is the classic literary story, Oliver Twist, by Charles Dickens. This edition is nicely illustrated by Lawrence Beall Smith with black and white sketched and a full color frontispiece.
