Junior Deluxe Edition books were a series of children's books published from the late 1940's through the 1960's. Originally published by Nelson DoubleDay Publishing, there have been multiple publishers over the years. Some of the versions feature multiple stories and most of those are abridged volumes. Generally, the volumes featuring single stories are complete.

This is The Little Lame Prince and The Adventures of a Brownie. To explain the insert that accompanied this volume, the inserts were place in the book and featured the NEXT months volume. So given this insert is actually for this title, Little Lame Prince, the previous owner removed the insert from the PREVIOUS book received and placed it in the following months book to match the insert with the titled edition. Inserts were place in the series to let subscribers know what title was coming the following month. It is a nice touch to have the insert matching the book title as it was saved and place in the book when it arrived.

The Little Lame Prince by Dinah Maria Mulock was first published in 1875. It is a classic children's story about a Prince who is paralyzed and exiled to a tower. But he receives a magical cloak from a fairy godmother that allows him to travel the world and learn empathy, wisdom, and courage. Through his adventures he learns to become a compassionate ruler.

The Adventures of a Brownie by Dinah Maria Mulock is a classic children's book about a mischievous, elf-like creature who lives in a Scottish castle coal cellar. He helps the family, especially young Phoebe, who is the only one who can see him. First published in 1872, the story follows the brownie's antics and teaches lessons about kindness, responsibility, and friendship through his adventures. The book is nicely illustrated by Colleen Browning with black and white sketches and a full color frontispiece.
