This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. 2008 Arcade Publishing edition. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Ivory hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is clean and shiny with only a hint of shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 350 pages including index.
Jean De La Fontaine is among the masters of literature. The Fables was his magnum opus and went through 37 printings during his lifetime. This contemporary translation has captured the the wit and poetic beauty that made Fontaine famous during his lifetime. The edition is finely illustrated by Edward Sorel.
