This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. 1992 Everymans Library Edition. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Brown cloth hardcover boards are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. Crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8.5" with 594 pages. Attached brown satin bookmark.
Everymans Library was founded in 1906 by Joseph Dent with the desire to proved quality classic titles for "everyman" with the price of "one shilling". The books were smaller in size, designed to be a "pocket book" for carrying around in purse or pocket for reading anywhere. By mid 20th century the titles were extensive and the popularity high. In 1991 there was a "revival" of Everymans Library by David Campbell featuring cloth bound hardcovers while maintaining the accessibility of classic literature.
