This is a very good hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. First American Edition 1939 Putnam Publishing. This copy is very good inside and out. NOTE: there is a minor crack to binding, a frequently seen minor flaw in books of this age but all the pages are tight to binding. See photo representative of such. The inside pages are very clean with no foxing seen only light natural tanning to pages are expected. The binding is tight and straight. Blue hardcover boards are very good with yellow sword/stone stamp front and yellow title lettering along spine. The boards only have very light shelf wear. Crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8.5" with 312 pages. Illustrated endpapers front and back by Robert Lawson.
The Sword in the Stone by T.H. White is a 1938 fantasy novel telling the story of the childhood of King Arthur, focusing on his education by the wizard Merlyn, who transforms him into various animals to teach him life lessons. It was originally a stand-alone book but later followed up by The Once and Future King.
