This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. Sixth Printing Library of America circa 1990's. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Maroon hardcover boards are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. Attached maroon satin bookmark. Crown octavo book size or 5" x 8.5" with 1303 pages including index and notes. Marbled endpapers front and back.

Contents include: The First and The Second Administrations of Thomas Jefferson, Index, Chronology and Notes. It is a remarkable and acclaimed history known for its detail and insight. It was first published in nine volumes from 1889 to 1891, and was out of print until The Library of America reissued it in two volumes: the First volume on the years of Thomas Jefferson’s presidency and the Second devoted to those of James Madison. This copy would be considered Volume One, The Jefferson administration and presidency.
