The inside pages are still crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards under jacket are very good with only a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is very good, also with only a hint of shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 406 pages.
Taking Liberties by Aryeh Neier is subtitled Four Decades in the Struggle for Rights. The author began defending rights over 50 years ago when only a small number of people were doing so. There were no college courses or careers with apprenticeship for such. The author became the architect for for some of the 20th centuries most influential organizations monitoring and promoting Civil Rights. He joined the ACLU in 1963 and became its youngest executive director. The book follows his career and political friends and foes as he continued the fight throughout his life.
