The 1941 Battle of Moscow was one of the most decisive battles of the Second World War and marked the first strategic defeat of German forces in their march across Europe. This book tells the story of individual experiences of Russian men and women.
The book begins when Russia was largely untouched by the war that was raging to the west. He tells how intelligence and breaching of the border by Wehrmacht in June took the country by surprise. The story continues when the Germans pushed into Moscow and the Red Army and the capital's citizens took to defending their city.
