This is a very good hardcover. Circa 1950's Blacks Readers Publishing. NOTE: the copyright page on many of these state 1928 but there is no copyright page on this edition. Many that list copyright for 1928 are most likely a "persistent" copyright page meaning the publisher did not update the copyright date on future reprints of titles. Black's published from the early to mid 20th century and this is a believed reprint from mid 1950's. Many copies are dated as 1928 but most likely a reprint similar to this edition. This copy is still very clean inside and out. The inside pages are clean. The binding is tight and straight. Red hardcover boards are very good with only very light shelf wear to edges and light fading along spine. Crown octavo book size or 5" x 8" with 623 pages.
This is The Works of A. Conan Doyle One Volume Edition. Included in contents is; The Sign of Four, The White Company, and more. PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a complete collection of work, rather a selection of Sherlock Holmes stories.

Volumes in this publisher’s output are among the best book club selections from the mid-twentieth century. Compact with attractive readable text presentation. Reminding me I was an early member of the club featuring the books in this format 60 years ago when I became a teenager. Cheers! 😄
