This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with a very good dust jacket. 1991 Orion Books Edition. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are still crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Black hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear and feature black quarter trim with silver lettering along spine. The accompanying dust jacket is clean and still mostly shiny with only light shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 225 pages and illustrated maps front and back endpapers.
All For The Union The Civil War Diary and Letters of Elisha Hunt Rhodes has been edited by Robert Hunt Rhodes. The diaries and letters were featured in the PBS series, The Civil War when Ken Burns came across the diary. Enlisting in the 2nd Rhode Island Infantry at the age of 18, Rhodes fought in the regiments 20 battles beginning at First Bull Run and ending at Appomattox. He rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel and commanded the regiment at age 22. History comes alive in the pages of his diary and his remarkable and thoughtful words are clear and honest.
