This is a very good larger hardcover with dust jacket. 1984 Abrams Publishing. This copy is still very good and clean inside and out. The inside pages are still crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Burnt orange cloth hardcover boards under jacket are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is very good with light shelf wear. Larger coffee table style book, 10" x 10" square with 163 pages including index.
The Shell Gift of the Sea has been compiled by Hugh and Marguerite Stix along with Tucker Abbott. The authors traveled to all corners of the globe to find and record seashells of all types. The book deals with the shell in history, shell lore, collecting and the shell in art. The book is lavishly illustrated with color photos highlighting seashells and there are several multiple page continuous illustrations.
