This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. 1991 Eakin Press. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are still crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Maroon hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear and feature gold lettering along spine. The accompanying dust jacket is still clean and shiny with only very light shelf wear. Standard octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 303 pages including index.
Black, Red and Deadly by Arthur T. Burton is subtitled Black and Indian Gunfighters of the Indian Territories. In this book the author recounts the exploits of Cherokee Bill and other back and Indian outlaws and lawmen. We meet Ned Christie, the most feared Indian outlaw of his time, we learn of the Rufus Buck gang and the notorious crimes they committed. Readers are also introduced to Ezekiel Proctor, the only man with whom the government made a treaty; Indian policemen known as Lighthorsemen, and of Bass Reeves - Deputy U.S. Marshall, the greatest manhunter of them all.
