This is a very good hardcover. Circa 1980's Time Life The Civil War Series. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Grey hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear and feature embossed cannon and cannonball design along with US & CS symbol and illustration. Larger hardcover, imperial octavo book size or 9" x 11" with 176 pages including index.
From 1983-1987 Time-Life published a 28 volume series called The Civil War. The series was known for its extensive use of historical photographs and detailed pictorial essays. The books focused chronologically on battles and campaigns and offered a comprehensive visual and narrative account of the American Civil War. the series was extremely popular and subscribers received a new volume bi-monthly. They remain popular today because of the unique embossed and illustrated bindings and the detailed historical account. Each was extensively illustrated with vintage photos, color paintings, maps and more.
