Argument Without End by Robert McNamara is subtitled In Search of Answers to the Vietnam Tragedy. There have been countless books written about the Vietnam War but none truly explained why the war occurred or why it could not have ended before millions died. Vietnam's former foreign minister, Nguyen Co Thach once said "it takes two to tango". What happened in Vietnam was not only the result of American actions but Vietnamese actions also. The book tries to move beyond blaming one side or the other but instead puts forth the complexities between both sides. McNamara and his colleagues who contributed to the book, were the Americans and the North Vietnamese made crucial mistakes that prolonged the war.
