This is a very good larger hardcover with accompanying slipcase. 1953 Heritage Press Edition. This copy is still crisp and clean inside. The pages are clean and crisp. The binding is tight and straight. Bound in tan linen cloth, the hardcover boards feature illustrated and designed front. The hardcover boards are very good with light shelf wear. The accompanying slipcase is good, showing some wear but solid. Super octavo book size or 7" x 11" with 453 pages including glossary.
Travels in Arabia Deserta by Charles M. Doughty is a travel history of the authors solitary time in Arabia from the years 1876-1878. Doughty was an English poet, writer, and traveller. He travelled in the Middle East and spent some time living with the Bedouins during the 1870s.
This edition features illustrations made on the spot by Eddy Legrand. The text is abridged and arranged by Edward Garnett with a prefatory note by Mr. Garnett. It also includes a general Intro by T.E. Lawrence.
