This is a very good hardcover with an acceptable slipcase. 1942 Heritage Press. This hardcover is very good inside and out. The pages inside are actually still crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Outer page edges decorated in speckle. Brown hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying original slipcase is good/acceptable as solid but showing wear. Octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 416 pages and illustrated endpapers front and back.
This edition from Heritage Press of The Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy has been finely illustrated with wood engravings by Agnes Miller Parker.
