This is a very good hardcover. Original 1918 edition Junior Classics Collier Publishing (earliest publication for this series) Young Folks Shelf of Books, Heroes and Heroines. This copy is very good inside and out given age. The inside pages are very clean and very good. The binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards are in red with lovely embossed design front and gold lettering of the genres in the series. Embossed design and gold lettering along spine is still clear and very good. The hardcover boards are in a leather-like binding and very handsome. There is only very light wearing to hardcover boards. Top page edges tipped in gold gilt. Fine sewn binding for durability and aesthetics. Color illustrated frontispiece with original tissue guard still in place. Crown octavo book size or 5" x 8" with 514 pages.

It includes and Intro by Charles Eliot and reading guide by William Allan Neilson.
