This is a very good hardcover. 1969 The Harvard Classics Registered Edition. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Green hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear and feature gold Veritas logo front and gold lettering along spine. Octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 524 pages including index.
The Harvard Classics was originally published as Dr Eliot's Five Foot Shelf of Books. It was originally compiled and edited by then Harvard University President Charles W. Eliot. He believed that a reading of the series would offer the benefits of a liberal education and entertainment meant for the average readers or collector.
This is The Voyage of the Beagle by Charles Darwin. It is the scientific journal first published in 1839. The expedition found Darwin mostly exploring and discovering that was compiled into a journal of biology, geology and anthropology. This edition includes an Intro and Notes.
