This is a very good hardcover. 1970 The Harvard Classics Registered Edition. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are still crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Green hardcover boards feature Veritas logo front and gold lettering along spine and are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. Octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 474 pages.
The Harvard Classics was originally published as Dr Eliot's Five Foot Shelf of Books. It was originally compiled and edited by then Harvard University President Charles W. Eliot. He believed that a reading of the series would offer the benefits of a liberal education and entertainment meant for the average readers or collector.
