This is a very good hardcover. 1969 The Harvard Classics Registered Edition. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are still crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Green hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear and feature gold Veritas logo front and gold lettering along spine. Octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 426 pages.
The Harvard Classics was originally published as Dr Eliot's Five Foot Shelf of Books. It was originally compiled and edited by then Harvard University President Charles W. Eliot. He believed that a reading of the series would offer the benefits of a liberal education and entertainment meant for the average readers or collector.
This is The Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri translated by Henry F Cary. This edition includes an Intro and Notes. The epic Italian poem was thought to have been begun around 1308 and finished years later, around 1321. it is still considered one of the most important works in Italian Literature.
