This is a very good hardcover. 1970 The Harvard Classics Deluxe Edition. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are still crisp and clean. Green hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear and feature gold Veritas logo front and gold lettering along spine. The binding is tight and straight. Octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 516 pages.
The Harvard Classics was originally published as Dr Eliot's Five Foot Shelf of Books. It was originally compiled and edited by then Harvard University President Charles W. Eliot. He believed that a reading of the series would offer the benefits of a liberal education and entertainment meant for the average readers or collector.
This is Don Quixote of the Mancha by Cervantes, subtitled The First Part of the Delightful History of the Most Ingenious Knight. It has been translated by Thomas Shelton. It includes Intro and Notes. The edition is PART ONE only. From the introductory notes: "The present volume contains the whole of the first part of the novel, which is complete in itself. The second part, issued in 1615, the year before his death, is of the nature of a sequel, ad if generally regarded as inferior."
