It is a 55 yr epic that is tragic and heroic, and carries meaning today. The account begins in the cold confines of the Mayflower, where 102 passengers awaited the arduous 2 month journey. He evokes the drama of the voyage and the eerie emptiness of coastal New England in the fall of 1620. The characters names have become legend: William Bradford, Miles Standish, and more which the author brings to life. The period from 1620-1676 began with perils, ended with war, and contained the seeds of what would come to define America.
