This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1975 Knopf Publishing. This copy is still very clean inside and out. The inside pages are still crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Green hardcover boards under jacket feature tan quarter trim with gold lettering along spine and are also very good with light shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is very good being clean and still shiny but does have light shelf wear corners/edges. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 535 pages.
The World From Rough Stones by Malcolm Macdonald is the unforgettable first novel in the classic Stevenson Family Saga. This historical fiction novel begins in England, 1839. It is a time of change and possibility. Four people from vastly different worlds are linked together by ambition. John Stevenson is the epitome of power - leading his men to rip the the world's longest railway tunnel. But, he is still only a foreman waiting for opportunity to rise. It comes in the form of Nora, alone and in rags. She bursts into John's life and he sees her as a peer - determined and feisty. Thus sets in motion the classic saga of The Stevenson Family.
