This is a good hardcover, NO slipcase as originally published. 1931 Illustrations Edition De Luxe. this copy is good inside and out. There is light natural tanning to pages from age but they are clean. NOTE: previous owners bookplate neatly placed inside front cover. The binding is tight and straight with the only hint of separation being inside back cover, see photo, and affects only the inside back page and binding. Rest of pages tight to binding throughout. Green hardcover boards are good and solid and feature purple quarter trim. The hardcover boards are clean with light shelf wear mostly corners/edges. NOTE: the title/author lettering along spine is faded off. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 154 pages.
The Girl With The Golden Eyes by Honoré De Balzac is a novella originally published in 1835. The short novella is about a young Parisian named Henri de Marsay. He becomes infatuated with a mysterious woman known only as the girl with the golden eyes. It is considered one of Balzac's finest works. In the story, Henri is obsessed and intent on breaking into a formidable fortress to pursue the girl. Once he attains his goal he learns something ominous and bloodshed ensues. This edition is finely illustrated by F.J. Buttera
