Between East and West Writings From Kultura is a collection of 15 essays and short stories from the past two decades of Kultura. The volume contains previously untranslated works from such authors as Czeslaw Milosz, Leszek Kolakowski and others. Established in Rome in 1946, Kultura became a place where contemporary writers, both in exile in the West and captivity in the East, could meet and exchange ideas. The idea was open debate and freedom. It is an excellent volume for those interested in Polands history or Central European history and politics.
