How America Eats by Clementine Paddleford is a collection of recipes from all over the United States. From Maine to California, the author collected recipes from farm kitchens, governors mansions, Hamburg diners, great chefs, and tea rooms. The author talks of how American dishes came from many countries but over the years have become Americanized. Pioneer mothers who created dishes with the foods available are now called "regional" recipes. Some recipes are for the gourmet, some for the quick-cook artists. Regardless, the book is full of delightful recipes from all over the United States. There are both color and black and white illustrations and photos that bring recipes to life.
