This is a very good given age hardcover. 1896 Matthews Northrup Publishing, Buffalo New York. This copy is very good inside and out. The inside pages are clean with only very light natural tanning from age. There is dust spotting along outside page edges but does not carry over to inside pages. The binding is tight and straight, bound in fine sewn binding, NOT glued, for durability. The hardcover boards are in grey with silver Capital Building design front along with silver lettering and additional design work. There is silver lettering along spine and little fading to cover only very light shelf wear. Crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8.5" with 951 pages including index and addition stats. Illustrated endpapers front and back. The back of the hardcover features embossed various state capitals.
King's Handbook of The United States by Moses King is a historical travel book and history of The United States. The edition features over 2600 illustrations and 53 colored maps. The maps of the states form an atlas arranged in their alphabetical order and over 48 pages from 461-508. The illustrated heading of each state chapter contains the state arms and motto, the State Capital, and a portrait of some person prominently connected with its history.
