This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover. 1979 Dodd Mead Publishing for The Old Time Gospel Hour. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The pages inside are crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Maroon hardcover boards are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear and feature gold title/author lettering with gold design front and gold lettering along spine. Crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8" with 303 pages.
The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan is illustrated with 16 pages of illustrations including reproductions of the frontispiece and 8 designs for First Part by William Blake. The book is presented as a dream sequence and is a 1678 Christian-allegory. The protagonist is Christian and the plot carries him on his journey from hometown - or City of Destruction - to the Celestial City (that which is to come or Heaven) atop Mount Zion.
This edition also includes an Intro to the book and note on the Blake designs by A.K. Adams together with an essay on John Bunyan by Thomas Macaulay.
