This is a near fine hardcover with a very good accompanying slipcase. 1986 Westvaco Special Edition. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The inside pages are still crisp and clean. The binding is tight and straight. Brown hardcover boards are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. Attached brown satin bookmark. Top page edges tipped in gold. The accompanying slipcase is very good with only very light shelf wear. Standard octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 294 pages. Illustrated endpapers front and back.

Early almanacs were forerunners of the modern magazine. The first American Almanac was printed in Cambridge, Mass. in 1639 under supervision of Harvard College. This edition contains a selection from the contents of 12 early American Almanacs. Selections include Poor Richards Almanack 1758, Farmers Almanack 1831, Davy Crockett's Almanack 1835-1856, Josh Billings Farmers Allminax and more.
